Tan Tui literally means springy legs.  The origins of Tan Tui have been handed down from master to student for over 5,000 years.  Tan Tui is considered a classic northern shaolin form.  Tan Tui is actually a series of exercises that have been joined together, as the name implies, to develop and improve springy legs, leg strength and kicking.  There are two different Tan Tui forms.  Tan Tui 10, which is designed to strengthen the legs; and Tan Tui 12, which is designed to develop kicking.
